Obituary of Kathy P. Hamblen

Kathleen P Hamblen, age 76, of Adams, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 14, 2016 in Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel. Kathleen was born July 22, 1940 in Lowville, N.Y., the daughter of Robert and Doris Johnson. She attended Lowville Academy and received her Bachelor’s degree from St. Lawrence University in 1963. She went on to receive her Masters in Teaching from Syracuse University. She married Melvin Eric Hamblen on July 14, 1964 at the Lowville Presbyterian Church. Kathleen retired from Teaching at South Jefferson Central School District in 2002 where she taught History, American Government, Economics, and AP Courses. She also worked with students publishing the SJCS Yearbook for several years. She also started a career in Mary Kay in 1979 and became the first consultant in the Upstate NY area to be honored on the Queens Court of Consultant Sales. At that time, there were only 16 total consultants on the Queens Court. She was a charter member of the RED Jacket Club and was always a STAR Consultant. She never missed a meeting or company event. Kathleen had one passion in life that was shared by her husband which was horses. She owned horses right up until her death having as many as 5 at one point. She won numerous ribbons for Horse Jumping and later taught lessons for other to enjoy horse riding. She is survived by her son Brayton Eric and his wife Lynnore Hamblen of Alpharetta, GA and her daughter Christina Anne and her husband Tom Shultz of Tampa, FL. She has 7 grandchildren: Madison Grace, MacKenzie Grace and Dillon Eric Hamblen; Maria Isabell, Meleigha Kathleen, Toby Joseph, and Tyson Jacob Shultz. She is also survived by her sister Sharon Sears and her nephew Kyle Sears and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Melvin Eric on June 3, 2002 and her nephew Erik Andrew Sears on June 15, 2006. The Funeral services will be Tuesday December 20th at 11:30am at the Adams UnitedMethodist Church, with Rev. Missy McCarthy officiating. Private burial in the Brookside Cemetery, Watertown. Calling hours will be Monday December 19th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Piddock Funeral Home in Adams, NY.
