Obituary of Ollie Jean Robbins

Watertown - Ollie Jean Robbins, 92, formerly of Watertown and Adams, died Sunday evening March 9, 2014 at Summit Village, where she had lived since the fall of 2013. At her request, there are no public calling hours or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Born October 9, 1921 in Crosbyton, Texas, daughter of Richard C. and Sallye Duke Horn, she attended school in Smith Bend, Texas. Following school she moved to Waco, Texas where she worked in a defense plant. She married Charles M. Robbins December 2, 1942 in Waco while he was attending military training. After his discharge in 1945, the couple moved to Watertown, where he worked for the Niagara Mohawk Power Company. Following his retirement in 1981, they moved to Wilmington, NC for several years before returning to Adams in 1992 where they lived the rest of their married life. Mr. Robbins died October 17, 2003. In 2005 Mrs Robbins moved to the Ives Hill Retirement Community, Watertown, before moving to Summit Village. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Gary L. and wife Marcia Robbins, Theresa, Rodney P. and wife Marilyn Robbins, Wilmington, NC; one daughter, Charlotte R. and husband Richard Rose, Washington, NC; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two sisters, Mabel Joy Wilson, Houston, TX, Minnie Lee White, San Luis Obispo, CA; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, one brother, Richard Horn and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Robbins was very active in the Watertown Public School Parent Teacher Association. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and later active in the Boy Scouts of America, Watertown. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and most of all being with her family and friends. She attended Bethany Methodist Church and the Watertown Mennonite Fellowship.
