Obituary of Robert H. Jones

Robert H. Jones, 56, Mannsville, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015 in York, PA. He was born February 4, 1958, in Watertown, NY, the son of Norman R., Sr. and Jeanne A. Crofoot Jones. He was a 1976 graduate of South Jefferson Central School and completed the Auto Mechanics program at the Jefferson County Vocational-Technical Center. As a youth, he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and the Civil Defense League. He was an avid outdoorsman and a proud supporter of the volunteer fire service. He served 39 years in the Mannsville-Manor Volunteer Fire Dept., and was a co-founder of Hunters Helping Kids NNY, serving as a member of its Board of Directors. He was also a proud supporter of the NRA. Robert was a lifelong resident of Mannsville, but traveled the country extensively as an owner/operator for Landstar, where he proudly transported military vehicles for the Department of Defense. Prior to 2001, he was employed as a mechanic for Goslin’s Chrysler-Plymouth, Carriage House Motors, Mucci Motor-Truck, and Paddock’s Wrecker Service. Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca J. Jones and her companion Justin Stevenson, Hamlin, NY; two sisters, Debra J. Worden of Sandy Creek, and Carolyn J. Smithers of Mannsville; a brother and sister-in-law, Norman R., Jr. and Anita Jones of Mannsville; two grandchildren, Laura Ann and Cooper David Stevenson; nieces and nephews, Jason Morgan, Darren Smithers, Sara and Jeff Klopotowski, Norman Jones, IV, Chas Worden, Katelyn Anthony, and Mick Worden; one great-niece and two great nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents. As per his wishes, there will be no funeral or calling hours. There will be a private memorial service at the family’s convenience with burial in Maplewood Cemetery, Mannsville. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mannsville-Manor Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 460 Mannsville, NY 13661.
