Obituary of Gertrude L. LaRock

Lorraine - Gertrude A. LaRock, 69, died Saturday morning, January 9, 2016, at her home. Calling hours will be from 4:00-7:00 pm Friday at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Saturday at the funeral home, with Rev. Martin Cline, pastor of Saint Cecilia’s Church, Adams, officiating. Weather permitting, burial will follow in the Lorraine Cemetery. Born March 7, 1946 in Lowville, daughter of Allen P. and Helen Goutermout Doyle, she graduated from Lowville Academy in 1963 and later from CCBI in Syracuse. She worked for Dr. Henry Giedel, Lowville. Following her move to the Adams area, she worked for the Adams Telephone Company as an operator, the former Marine Midland Bank, Adams, as a teller, and the USPS in Henderson, Mannsville and Adams Center, where she retired after twenty years as Postmaster. She married David L. LaRock in 1967. The marriage ended in divorce. Surviving are a son and daughter in law, Brian S. (Debra) LaRock, Lorraine; a daughter Victoria L. Kellogg and companion Richard C. Wood, Adams; two grandchildren, Emily J. Kellogg and John D. Kellogg, both of Adams; two brothers, Paul Doyle and companion Joan Roach, Watertown, Edward Doyle, Syracuse; three sisters, Mary (Ward ‘Pete’) Baker, Harrisville, Judy (Gary) Christman, Lowville, Christine (Michael) Mealus, Lowville, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two brothers, Wayne and David Doyle, and one sister, Jane Burnham. Gert enjoyed knitting, dancing, crafts, camping, genealogy, cooking and playing cards. She was a member of the American Legion Don Rounds Post 586 Auxiliary, the Watertown VFW Post 1400 Auxiliary and the Watertown Eagles Club.
