Obituary of Mary Louise Ramsey

Mary Louise Ramsey, 84, formerly of Barnes Corners, Rutland and Adams, died Friday evening, July 29, 2016 at the New Roc Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rochester, NY, where she had been a resident since May 2014. There will be a graveside service at 10:30 am Friday in the Barnes Corners Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 6-8 pm at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Born September 10, 1931 in Rodman, daughter of Fred S. and Alice M. (Newton) Lowe. She graduated from Adams Center High School in 1948. Following school she worked on the Lowe family farm, Tremains Corners. She married Clifford G. Ramsey on March 1, 1952 at the Adams Methodist Church with Rev. George Butler officiating. The couple lived in Barnes Corners all of their married lives. Mr. Ramsey worked for R.H. Ennis in Burrville, retiring in 1983. Following the death of her husband on December 4, 1992, Mrs. Ramsey moved into her daughter’s farm house in Rutland. In 1998, she moved to the Country View Apartments in Adams, then to Henderson where she lived before moving to the New Roc Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in 2014. She is survived by one son Richard R. Ramsey, Rochester, NY; two daughters Camilla (Douglas) Arthur, Hamlin, NY, Laura (Craig) Tousant, Watertown, NY; four grandsons, three great grandsons, three great grand daughters; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by three brothers Dayton, Harold and Howard Lowe; and one sister Camilla Ellsworth. Mrs. Ramsey enjoyed cross country skiing and was a member of the Black River Fiddlers. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Lung Association of NY State, 506 East Washington St., Syracuse, NY 13202.
