Deborah A. Overton, 69, longtime resident of Lorraine, died at home Friday October 27, 2023, where she had been under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County. There are no services. A celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later time.

Born June 25, 1954 in Watertown, daughter of John E. and Carrie A. (Roberts) Filson, she graduated in 1972 from South Jefferson Central School, Adams, NY. Following graduation, Debbie tended bar at JD’s Inn and the Hillcrest, both in Lorraine. She later began working in the cafeteria at South Jefferson Central School, retiring after ten years.
She married David M. Overton of Lorraine on May 25, 1984. The couple lived in Lorraine all their married life.
Surviving besides her husband David, is a son Jared (and fiancé Morgan Prevost), Lorraine; and a daughter Jill (Brian) Whyte, Niagara Falls, NY; three grandchildren David and Emily Whyte and Aubrey Johnson; her father John E. Filson; one brother Lonnie (Charlene) Filson; two sisters Connie (Craig) Overton, Cheryl Overton; and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her mother Carrie Filson; and brother-in-law Leroy “Mutt” Overton.
Debbie loved flowers and mowing the lawn, but she especially enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.
