Carrie Cecilia O’Connor Kenney, a woman who always met you with a smile, passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 100 years old, in Henderson, NY on May 20, 2025.

Born on April 21, 1925, in Worth, NY, to her parents John and Bessie (Weaver) O’Connor, Carrie was a caring and compassionate person.  

Carrie had 13 brothers and sisters and graduated from Watertown High School.  After graduation, she was employed by Faichney’s Thermometer Company and later by the New York Telephone Company as an operator.  

She met Murray Kenney at a local dance, they married on February 20, 1954, and moved to Depauville, NY, where Murray worked on the dairy farm owned by his parents, James A. and Bessie (Holliday) Kenney. Upon the death of his father in 1964, they purchased the farm, where they lived until 1983. They then purchased a farm on Smith Road outside of Henderson, NY in 1984. After leaving that farm, they eventually moved to their home in Henderson, NY.

She is survived by her children, James Kenney, (Sue), Mary VanTassel (Vince), Cheryl Ames, Craig Kenney (Lori), Tina Gushlaw (Joe), Trina Lennox (Tim), Kevin Kenney (Ruth), her 18 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Carrie is predeceased by her parents, all of her siblings, and her husband.

Relatives and friends are invited to the calling hours from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the Piddock Funeral Home, located at 7 North Park St., Adams, NY, with a vigil service at 4:45 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Queen of Heaven Church, 8900 NYS RT 3, Henderson NY 13650, followed by her burial at St. Lawrence Union Cemetery, 33601 County Route 4, Clayton, NY 13624.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Jude’s or Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Henderson.
