Lee Donald Berry Obituary

LEE DONALD BERRY, 76, passed away on Thursday morning, September 18, 2025, surrounded by family at his home in Adams, NY. The son of Harry and Nora Berry, Lee was born in Adams Center on September 25, 1948. He was a graduate of South Jefferson Central School and a 1968 graduate of the NYS Ranger School. He served in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1970 and was a longtime business owner of Berry Brothers Lumber, Adams, with his brother the late Gary Berry. He served on the NYS Ranger School board for over 20 years, on the NYS Forest Practice board, on the Lorraine town board, and on the South Jefferson agriculture board. Lee is remembered for his quiet wit, sharp mind, kindness and generosity.


He was a beloved husband to his wife of 55 years Sue Berry. Devoted father of Brent (Sherri) Berry, Otisville, MI and Julie (Brian) Young, Camden, NY. Loving grandfather of Leonardo Diehl, and Alexis, Samantha and Makenna Berry, and step grandfather of Evan Young. Dear brother of Ruth (the late Fred) Amos, Adams; Marie (Bernard) Windover, Ellisburg; the late Carl (Linda) Berry, Anniston, Alabama; the late Gary (Tamera) Berry, Adams; and Rose Ann (Benny) Hyde, Adams. A man of faith and integrity, he was an uncle and father figure to many.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berry Brothers Lumber FFA Award at the Northern New York Community Foundation, 131 Washington St., Watertown, NY 13601 or online at nnycf.org; the NYS FFA Leadership Training Foundation, to benefit the Oswegatchie FFA Camp, at the NYS FFA Foundation, 9340 Long Pond Rd., Croghan, NY 13327 or online at nyffafoundation.org/memorial-gifts; or to your favorite charity.


Calling hours will be held 5 to 8 PM, Friday, September 26 at the Piddock Funeral Home Inc, Adams.  The memorial service location has been changed to the Adams Country Club, US Route 11, at noon on September 27.  Also there will be not be a calling hour prior to the service with this change.
