Helen A. Goodreault, (Myra Helen Sorensen Larkin Arute Goodreault (Rusty)), 98, died Tuesday December 16, 2025, with a name as long as her life. 

Born on September 24, 1927 to Anton Carl and Clara (Phillips) Sorensen on the Minkler Road in Adams Center NY.  She shared her life on Spring Street, Adams NY, with all 3 of her husbands, Robert G. Larkin, Anthony J. Arute and Edward C. Goodreault, all of whom predeceased her. 

Helen was a 1945 graduate of Adams Center High School, and began her working life as a clerk at F. W. Woolworth in Watertown.  She later went to work as a telephone operator in Adams and eventually retired with 36 years of service as an operator and customer service representative with Continental Telephone. She then joined with her husband Anthony Arute as an agent and broker with Arute Real Estate.

Helen is survived by her 3 sons, Kevin Larkin of Adams, NY, Thomas and Carolann Larkin of Orlando FL and James Larkin of Adams, NY.  The extended family includes nieces, nephews and over 30 grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her beloved feline companion Angel.

She was predeceased by her brothers Durwood and Donald Sorensen and Paul Rivers. 

Helen loved singing, dancing and calling square dances with the Black River Valley Fiddlers, taking small trips with friends on sunny days, and getting together or calling the many friends and family in the area, and in Zephyrhills FL where she and Edward became regular snowbirds each fall.

She never turned down an offer for a nice dinner, and even picked up the check on many occasions.  She was also a cut-throat crazy rummy player.

She kept a positive attitude toward life, and did it with a beautiful smile.

Helen will be interred in the spring 2026 in the Sorensen Family plot in the Union Cemetery, US Route 11, Adams Center NY.  A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held at that time.  There are no calling hours.
