Donald George Hess, 83, formerly of Lorraine, died Wednesday April 8, 2026 at Samaritan Summit Village, Watertown, where he had resided for several years.

Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home Inc, Adams, NY.

Born December 31, 1942 in Hastings, NY, to Anthony L. and Millie (Burnett) Hess.  He attended schools in Mexico, Hannibal, LaFargeville and South Jefferson.  He went to work on the Carlton Eiss Farm on the DryHill Road in Rodman.

In August 1960 he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as a gunner's mate.  Following his honorable discharge in October 1966, he returned to the Eiss Farm and worked for Mrs. Marie Eiss  until November 1995.  He worked for his brother Joe at the Adams Laundry and then began working for the Town of Rodman Recycling and Highway Department in 2001.

He is survived by his sister Barbara Paige, Brownville; one sister -in-law Katherine Hess, Lorraine and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his brothers Robert, Louie, Richard, Leo, David and Joseph; and one brother-in-law Jim Paige.

Donald George was a member of the American Legion Post 0001, Albany, NY.

He enjoyed gardening and reading.

It was his wishes to have no public services.
