Obituary of Sheila A. Castor

Sheila A. Castor, 66, of Adams Center, died Saturday evening January 20, 2024 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital, Albany, NY.  There will be a memorial service on Thursday January 25 at 10:30 am at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams, NY.  There are no calling hours. Burial will be in the Rural Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home Inc, Adams, NY. Sheila was born in Watertown, NY to the late Stanley H. and Margaret J. (Towne) Hamilton on April 19, 1957.  She attended South Jefferson Central School.  Following school, she married Walter H. Castor of Rodman on January 17, 1976.  They lived most of their married life in Adams Center.   She enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her family, then later she started working as a school bus monitor for the South Jefferson School District.  She retired after fifteen years in 2018. She is survived by her husband Walter H. Castor, Adams Center; one son Michael H. (Kylene) Castor, Adams Center; one daughter Lisa M. (Paul) Brewer, AL; three grandsons Anthony Castor, Michael Castor Jr, Matthew Castor; three granddaughters Chanell Casher, Caylin Casher, Candace Casher; two great grandchildren Kayden White, Myron King; three brothers Stanley (Linda) Hamilton, Stanton “Duffy” (Sue) Hamilton, David (JoAnn) Hamilton; three sisters Nancy Spearance, Kathy Lobdell (companion Lloyd Larmon), Jackie (Joe) Leviker; and one ‘chosen sister’ Karen Nevills.  She is also survived by two brothers in law Carlton (Elaine) Castor, Wayne Castor; two sisters in law Corky (Steve) Gaworecki, Carla Russell; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother in law Donald Spearance and a nephew Derek Hamilton. Sheila enjoyed going to the Casinos, especially Turning Stone.  She loved feeding and watching the orioles on her porch, her Border Collie dog “Princess”, but most of all she especially enjoyed being around her family and all of her many friends.
