Obituary of Ellen M. Fish
Ellen M. Fish, 89, longtime resident of Adams, died Monday morning October 3, 2016 at the home of her granddaughter Kelly Charlton, Heuvelton, where she had lived since July 2015. There will be a memorial service 11:00 am Saturday at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Adams, with Rev. Jerry Wichelns officiating. Burial will follow in the Rural Cemetery, Adams. An hour of visitation beginning at 10:00 am will precede the funeral. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams.
Born December 21, 1926 in Adams, NY, daughter of Earl H. and Violet (Smith) Timmerman, she graduated from Adams High School. Following graduation she trained in the Cadet Nurse Corps WWII at Mercy Hospital, obtaining her LPN license.
She married Robert H. Fish of Pierrepont Manor on January 30, 1946. The couple lived on the Wilder Road in Pierrepont Manor, where they owned and operated the family farm. Following the death of her husband on December 25, 1979, she later moved to Adams.
She worked at the former Jefferson County Sanitarium in Watertown for eight years, and then at the Madonna Home from 1963-1985.
Surviving is a son, Jorge Fish, SC; one grandson Wayne (Tessa) Latham, Jr., Ogdensburg; two granddaughters, Kelly (Samuel) Charlton, Heuvelton, Kimberly (Brian) Epprecht, Corning; two step grandsons, John Cobb, CA, Kevin Cobb, NC; eleven great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; a son in law, Wayne Latham, Sr., Morristown and a daughter in law, Marilyn Fish, FL.
She is predeceased by a daughter Mary Ellen Latham who died in 1997 and a granddaughter Erin Fish.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church and the Red Hat Momma’s.
Ellen loved to play cards and enjoyed board games, reading, knitting and crocheting.
She celebrated a wonderful childhood and lived a good life. Ellen was an angel to all and will be remembered for the loving care she gave to so many.
