Obituary of William David LaComb Sr.
William David LaComb, Sr., 80, formerly of Mannsville, peacefully passed away following a brief battle of cancer, with his family at his side on June 2, 2017 at the Kingsway Arms Nursing Center, Schenectady, NY.
A funeral mass will be held 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 7 at Saint Cecelia’s Church, Adams, with Rev. Martin Cline officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Cecelia’s Cemetery, Henderson, NY. Calling hours will precede the funeral mass from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams.
Born to Melvin A. and Merle (McCracken) LaComb on February 1, 1937, in Mannsville, he graduated from Adams High School and NY College of Technology at Canton.
After retiring from IBM in Poughkeepsie & Kingston, NY with over 30 years of service, he worked part-time at Williams Lumber in Rhinebeck, NY for several years. Following his retirement, he moved to Henderson, NV (Las Vegas) where he lived for 20 years before moving back to NY in 2016.
Among Bills many interests, he enjoyed sports the most, and took pride in his personal accomplishments.
Survivors include a brother, Robert J. (Elva) LaComb, Adams; five children, Terry Tucker (Phil) of Niskayuna, William David LaComb Jr (Trudy Sainsbury) of Kingston, Joanne Schnell (Gregg) of Niskayuna, Nancy Stone (Russ) of Ellington, CT and Janice Brown (Kevin) of Catskill; his former wife, Kathleen LaComb of Niskayuna; 16 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren, 19 nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Bernard (Jim), a sister Mary E. Petrie and nephew Bernard Petrie, Jr.
