I remember Lloyd from way back, mid-late 1960's, when it was Dairyland. Went there a million times. He was super nice, I even worked there for a few months once after it was changed to Lloyds. I can still remember the line of stores------Key Bank, Lloyds, Plaza Sport Shop, Bachmans 5/10............

I was so sorry to hear of Lloyd's passing. Lots of great memories of him, both at the store and in the neighborhood. We hung out at his store after school and after dinner, or rode our bikes around the neighborhood and hung out at his house on the corner. He let us have charge accounts so we could get a soda or an ice cream when we didn't have any money with us. He kept it all in a little notebook behind the counter. Danny Burgess used to stop into the store in the afternoon, and we would all ask him what the weather was going to be. When I was in Wiley, 5th or 6th grade, I used to stop at the store when it was Mercer's, and buy Charm's sour lollipops for 0.10 and sell them at school for 0.25. I would take orders and bring them the next day. My candy business was shut down after a teacher found out. Lloyd's had a great candy counter! It was a different time back then, when all the parents in the neighborhood looked after everyone's kids. I will admit, that at the Parish house, it could definitely get out of control when Mr. P was at work, and there was a swarm of kids and bikes all over that corner-Watson, Hodkinson, Mayne, Belcher, Hartz, etc... Above all, Lloyd had a sense of humor and he treated us all well. My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.

I'm so sorry to hear about your father's passing, Lloyd. I knew him from when he worked for Mr. Mercer through the Lloyd's Food Store Days. I lived nearby, so I was there a lot, especially buying baseball cards daily in the summers. He was always really nice to my mom and me, and, though I hadn't seen him in few decades, I still have fond memories of him. May he rest in peace.
