Obituary of Eleanor Gilday

Eleanor Gilday, 76, of Kingston, NY and formerly of Sackets Harbor, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 14, 2014, at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church in Sackets Harbor. Burial will be private in the Union Cemetery, Adams Center. She was born on March 4, 1938 in Sackets Harbor, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel Fields. Eleanor was a graduate of Sackets Harbor High School. She completed the nursing program at Mercy Hospital in Watertown, NY where she worked as a nurse before moving to Kingston, NY to become a dedicated housewife of her growing family. Surviving her are son Joseph of New York City, son Timothy and his wife Jenna of Minneapolis, Minnesota, son Patrick of Kingston, NY, son Steve and his wife Sheila of Gardiner, NY, sister Candace Pignone of Carthage, NY, brother Robert Fields and his wife Jan of Lorraine, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her love of her life Joseph Gilday Sr., with whom she was married to for 40 years, and brothers Roswell and Fred Fields. She enjoyed gardening, baking, crocheting, and visiting family and friends. Donations in her memory can be made to the Benedictine Health Foundation of Kingston, NY.
