Obituary of Edwin G. LaVere
Edwin G. “Eddie” LaVere, 70, of Pierrepont Manor, died unexpectedly at home Tuesday November 2, 2021 with his loving sister and caregiver, Chrissy, at his side. His funeral service will be 11:00 am Tuesday November 9 at the Piddock Funeral Home Inc, Adams, with Rev. Robert Decker, of Saint Cecilia’s Church, Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Cecilia’s Cemetery, Henderson, NY. Calling hours will precede the funeral beginning at 9:00 am.
Born May 1, 1951 in Watertown, NY, son of George E. and Evelyn M. (Young) LaVere, he attended Mannsville Manor Central School. Following school he worked summers on his cousins farm in Copenhagen as well as other local farms. He then worked on Camp Drum for a few years as an equipment operator and then at K B Motors in Adams, retiring due to injury.
Eddie is survived by a brother Mark T. LaVere, Pierrepont Manor; three sisters Carol M. Sweeney, Sandy Creek, Darlene A. Jobson, Alexandria Bay, Christine L. LaVere, Pierrepont Manor; four nephews, two nieces, three great nephews and three great nieces.
He is predeceased by his parents and his many aunts and uncles.
He enjoyed hunting, cutting wood with his P51, the family camp, the hunting camp in Worth, riding his 1986 Honda four wheeler, buying tools which he kept in immaculate condition, the outdoors, western movies and especially the LA Kings.
He was a life member of the Big Brook Park Hunting Club.
Eddie had a huge heart and was always helping members of the community by mowing lawns and such. He was especially attentive to his three younger siblings whom he taught to drive stick shift and was their chauffeur until they were driving age. His love for hockey was fulfilled with a bottle of Molson Golden and Hockey Night in Canada routing for his L.A. Kings.
We were blessed to have him in our lives and will miss him very much.
His family would especially like to thank the South Jefferson Rescue Squad for the many trips made to his home and have requested donations in his memory be made to the South Jefferson Rescue Squad, PO Box 126, Adams, NY 13605.
