Obituary of Norman L. Winnett

Watertown - Norman L. Winnett, 82, a resident of Summit Village, and formerly of the Country View Apartments, Adams, died Sunday August 31, 2014 at the Samaritan Medical Center. The funeral for Mr. Winnett will be 8:00pm Friday at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams, with Rev. Terry Nichols officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Rodman. Visitation will be from 6 - 8:00 pm preceding the service. He is survived by his wife Madalene, Summit Village, Watertown, a step son Gary (Bonnie) Barney, Adams Center; two step daughters, Diane Scott, Adams Center and Sharon (David) McMahon, Watertown; five step grandchildren and ten step great grandchildren; one brother Donald (Joan) Winnett, Clayton; three sisters, Janet (Shirley) Nichols, Adams, Betty Grandjean, Watertown and Debra (Joseph) Truesdell, Adams; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a sister Nancy Anzalone and his longtime companion Evelyn VanCour. Mr. Winnett was born December 10, 1931 in Rodman son of Leo and Mildred Larkin Winnett. He attended schools in Belleville and Henderson. He worked on the family farm, drove milk truck and most recently drove a mail truck locally. Two previous marriages ended in divorce. He married Madalene Barney of Adams Center on Oct. 14, 1995. The couple lived in Adams Center before moving to Summit Village. He enjoyed nature walking along Sandy Creek, cars, tractors and the NY Yankees. Donations in his memory are requested to the South Jefferson Rescue Squad, PO Box 126, Adams, NY 13605. bv
