Obituary of Elizabeth H. Turner

Elizabeth H. Turner, 94, longtime resident of Rodman, died Tuesday July 25, 2023 at Samaritan Summit Village in Watertown, NY where she had resided since February 2023. A funeral mass will be at 11:00 am on Aug 8th at Saint Cecilia’s Church, Adams, with Rev. Douglas Decker officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery, Adams Center, NY. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home Inc, Adams, NY Born April 2, 1929 in Barnes Corners, daughter of George and Dorothy (Spencer) Hodkinson, she attended school in Barnes Corners, graduating from Lowville High School. She worked for several years at Lally’s Manufacturing Company in Adams, and later attended BOCES earning her nurses aide certificate. She married Jay G. Turner Jr. on April 25, 1950 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Copenhagen, NY. The couple lived in Rodman all their married life. Mr. Turner died June 8, 2002. Betty is survived by three sons Jay Turner, Augusta, GA, Niles and Debbie Turner, Rodman, Peter and Jeanette Turner, Carthage; one daughter Sharon (Keith) Russell, Rodman; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; one brother Kenneth Hodkinson, Rodman; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a daughter Donna Jo Turner, siblings Donald and Louis Hodkinson, Catherine Collins, John Robert Hodkinson, Gertrude McDonald, Margaret Chambers, Monica Smith Betty was a former communicant of Saint Cecilia’s Church, Adams, NY and Saint James Catholic Church, Carthage, NY.
