Obituary of John R. Jamieson

Adams - John R. Jamieson, 84, of Spring Street, died Wednesday morning at his home. Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Born December 1, 1929 in Syracuse, son of John and Alice (Reed) Jamieson. He enlisted in the United States Army and later the Air Force, where he served in Korea. Following his discharge, he graduated from the Albany Teacher’s College. He taught business at Henninger High School in Syracuse and later at the Watertown School of Commerce. After receiving his masters in guidance from SUNY Oneonta, he became a Guidance Counselor at Baldwinsville High School. Mr. Jamieson married Ruth Oleson on October 5, 1950 in Syracuse. The couple lived in Syracuse and Adams the majority of their married lives. Surviving besides his wife, are three sons and daughters in law, Mark and Sandra Jamieson, Adams, Tedd and Karen Jamieson, Three Mile Bay, Joel and Nora Jamieson, Watertown; two daughters and sons in law, Joanne and Bruce Gayne, Adams, Jill and Scott Bero, Adams; fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a sister Kate LaFrance. He was an avid Syracuse sports fan. Mr. Jamieson was a life member of the American Legion Don Rounds Post 586, Adams, the South Jefferson V.F.W. Post 5344, Adams, and the WatertownElks Club.
