Obituary of Donald F. Bibbins

Donald F. Bibbins, 85, life-long resident of Rodman, NY, died Tuesday night, October 29, 2024, at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, NY, where he had been a resident since September 6, 2023. Don was born March 12, 1939 in the Town of Watertown, NY, and was the son of Kenneth and Pauline (Hungerford) Bibbins. In his early working years, he was employed on his father’s dairy farm in Rodman. Don graduated in 1957 from Adams Center High School. Don married Marjorie Emerson, of Greig, NY, on October 17, 1959 in Greig. Following their marriage, Don and Margie lived in Rodman and resided there together for nearly 64 years. He spent most of his working career as a carpenter, and started his own business “Don Bibbins Construction”. Don and Margie operated the business together in their later working years. In their retirement years, they enjoyed traveling, including long trips to California and Alaska, and touring the western American states. Margie died July 12, 2023. He is survived by his three children and their spouses: Noel (Terese) Bibbins, Adams, NY; Carrie (Charlie) Miller, Huntersville, NC; and Trudy (Philip, Jr.) Hughes, Philadelphia, NY. Don is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law: Dick (Donna) Bibbins, Adams Center, NY; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Besides his parents, Don was predeceased by his wife, Margie, two sisters and their spouses: Jean (Wally) Pierce, of Livermore, California; and Shirley (Sid) Thompson, of Suffern, NY. He enjoyed nature, deer hunting, and spending time at his camp in Worth, NY. He and Margie enjoyed antique shopping and country music, including trips to the Grand Ole Opry. In Keeping with Don’s wishes, there will be no funeral or calling hours. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Rodman, NY, at the family’s convenience. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home Inc, Adams, NY. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of the staff at Samaritan Medical Center and Samaritan Keep Home who cared for Don.
