Obituary of Nancy E. Brimmer
ADAMS CENTER, N.Y. — Nancy E. Brimmer, of Caird Road, died Sunday evening, Jan. 5, 2014, at her home.
She was 81. Born June 18, 1932, on Point Peninsula, a daughter of Garrett and Iva Pennock VanNess, she attended Lyme Central School. She married Francis E. Brimmer on Aug. 7, 1949, in Watertown. They resided in the Adams Center most of their married life and spent summers on Point Peninsula, where they managed Brimmer’s Marina until 1982.
Besides raising her family, Nancy worked at Taylor Stone Dairy, Fassett's Grocery Store and Rod's Big M. Together with Francis, they enjoyed snowmobiling and were members of the Lil Angels Snowmobile Club and Barnes Corners SnoPals Snowmobile Club, where they met some amazing people, including their best friends Gary and Ellen Pulver. They traveled throughout the United States with the Pulvers and friends Louis and Anne Brooks. They had many great adventures, including visiting with their long-time friends Andy and Amy Cambron in Arizona.
Besides her husband of 64 years, she is survived by her children, Eugene F. Brimmer and Loraine Palmer, Lorraine, Christine Ryan and husband Bernard Ryan, Adams Center, and Rodney Brimmer and wife, Cathy Brimmer, Lorraine; her brother, Earl VanNess and wife, Viola VanNess, Watertown; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Three sisters, Mildred E. Vallelunga, Florence Snyder and Jennie VanNess, and two brothers, Arnold and Robert VanNess, all died before her.
