Obituary of Fred R. Lowe

Fred Richard Lowe, 78, of Rodman, NY passed away December 21, 2024 at the VanDuyn Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Syracuse, NY where he had resided since August 2024. There will be a celebration of his life at the Spookhill Bar and Grill, Adams Center, to be announced after the holidays. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home Inc, Adams, NY. Born January 26, 1946, son of Harold and Helen (Groff) Lowe, he first started school in Rodman, then went to the Adams Center High School. He worked on his father’s dairy and horse farm. He was drafted into the US Army in 1967 where he served his time in Germany as a lineman. He was discharged in 1969 with the rank of Sergeant, receiving a good conduct medal and a sharpshooter medal. Upon returning home he worked for a landscaping business. He met Orville Fink and worked as a carpenter for Orville for several years. Fred married Jacqueline Poormon in 1989. Prior to their marriage, Fred, Jacqueline and her son Darren Moulton had briefly moved to North Carolina, before moving back to Rodman where he began working for Pete Shelmidine. In 2000, he started working for the Town of Rodman, retiring in 2008. The couple have lived in Rodman all of their married life. Fred loved his dog Jessie and they were inseparable, along with the cats that would follow him everywhere. He had the unique talent of “well-witching” where he was able to locate underground water sources for many property owners. They took many trips to visit family and friends. He liked to putter in the garage, where his passion was 1970 Chevy Chevelle automobile. Surviving besides his wife Jacqueline, Rodman; is his step-son Darren Moulton and his wife Jennifer, Rodman; a grandson Devin Moulton and fiancé Taylor Peterson, Rodman; and granddaughter Kylie Moulton, Henrietta; a brother David and wife Mary Alice, Rodman; a nephew Walker Lowe, Rodman; and a niece Ashley Caprara, Watertown. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Thomas Lowe, who was killed in Vietnam in 1970. Donations in his memory may be made to a favorite charity of ones choice.
