Frederick C. Walden, 80, of Adams Center, died Monday January 6, 2025 at the home of his son Richard Walden where he had been living since 2014.
It was his wish to have no public services. A private burial will be in the spring for both Fred and his wife Janis, in the Brookside Cemetery, Watertown, NY.

Born in Fort Bragg, NC, he was the son of Clifford and Anne Walden. Following his graduation from Adams High School, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1965, serving in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1967, being awarded several medals, one of which was a Vietnam Service Medal w/ one Bronze Service Star, and a Sharpshooter Badge with a Rifle Bar.
Upon his discharge he worked with his brother for Sanford Fire Company building fire trucks. In 1972 he went to work for the Jefferson County Highway Department as a motor equipment supervisor, retiring in 2000.
Fred married Janis Griffith of Heuvelton on June 28, 1969. The couple lived in Watertown, later traveling across the county in their motorhome. Following the death of his wife on November 29, 2014, he moved in with his son where he lived until his passing.
He is survived by his son Richard F. Walden and his wife Heather, Adams Center, two grandsons Cole Walden (Dekota) OH, Slade Walden, Adams Center; and one granddaughter MaKayla O’Riley, Adams Center. He is predeceased by a brother Richard Walden.
When he was younger, he and his brother would tube race on the Salmon River in Pulaski for many years.
Fred enjoyed traveling the country, attending the races at the Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville, NY, bowling, golf, cards and boating.
