Obituary of Emily E.L. Ross

Emily E.L. Ross, 39, died unexpectedly at her home in Carthage on Monday January 6, 2025.  Calling hours will be Saturday January 11 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams, NY.  Burial will be at a later date in the spring. Born June 13, 1985 in Suffern, NY, daughter of David H. and Kim (Chmielnik) Ross.  Following  graduation from South Jefferson Central School in 2003.  she entered the United States Air Force where she was stationed at Travis Air Force Base, in California.  She was honorably discharged in 2005. She married Daniel Z. Smith of TN on February 6, 2008.  The couple lived on base at Fort Drum for five years, then in the Watertown area before moving to Tennessee in 2017.  Emily moved back to the Watertown area in December 2023 and most recently moved to Carthage. She worked in the administration department where she held various positions at General Assembly Academy, TN and most recently at Augustinian Academy in Carthage. Emily is survived by her son Damian Ross and three daughters Vaydah Smith, Vivian Smith, Veronica Smith, all of Carthage; The children’s father Daniel Smith, TN; her mother Kim Ross, Pierrepont Manor, two sisters Jaime Dodd, Jennifer Detro; two brothers Carson Ross, David Ross; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father David H. Ross. Emily had a charismatic personality.  She will be dearly missed by her children, her family, friends and all of those that loved her.   She enjoyed crocheting and she loved her animals.
