Obituary of Floyd R. Taylor

Floyd R. “Dick” Taylor, 67, died Monday December 15, 2014 at his home where he had been under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County. His funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams, Rev. John Throop, Rector of the Emmanuel and Zion Episcopal Churches officiating. Spring burial will be in the Rural Cemetery, Adams. There are no calling hours. Floyd is survived by his wife Diane, a son Donald R. and his fiance Linda Amodeo, Adams; a daughter and son in law Deborah and Jeff Broadhurst, Rodman; five grandchildren Ryan J., Alexa E, and Cadence Broadhurst, Rodman; Vincent J. and Mia Taylor, Adams; and four step-grandchildren Kevin, Katrina, Jacob and Justine Farnan, Carthage. He is also survived by a sister and brother in law Barbara and Herbert Parish, Adams and several nieces and nephews. Two sisters pre-deceased him, Mary Gregory and Evie Cisco. He was born March 19, 1947 in Adams Center, son of Douglas and Evelyn Denee Taylor. He attended the former Adams Center-Adams High School following which he worked in the Rural Cemetery, Adams. In 1965 he entered the US Army and spent 13 months in Vietnam with the 1st. Calvary and was discharged in 1967. He married Diane Bacon of Adams on August 31, 1968. The couple has lived in Adams the majority of their married lives. He worked for the Crowley Milk Plant in LaFargeville, the New York Air Brake and in 1992 went to work for the Village of Adams DPW retiring in 2008. He was a member of the American Legion National Post 0001, Indianapolis, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Disabled American Vets and a past member of Teamsters Local 85. Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
