Obituary of Arlene E. Bates

Arlene E. Bates, 92, of Adams and formerly of Worth, died Saturday evening at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown where she had resided since September 2014. Her funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday December 31, at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams, with Rev. Daniel Lincoln, pastor of the Lorraine Methodist Church, officiating. Burial is scheduled to follow in the Rural Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Born September 23, 1922 in Lorraine, NY, daughter of Bert and Lois (Roberts) Pitkin, she attended school in Lorraine and Mannsville. She married Carl G. Bates on December 24, 1946 in Adams Center. The couple lived in Worth where they operated a farm. Following the death of her husband on May 9, 1991, Mrs. Bates moved to Adams to live with her daughter Carlene Bates in December 1991. Surviving besides her daughter Carlene are several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two brothers, Dexter and Bert Pitkin, and one sister Dorothy Chereshnoski. She was a member of the Lorraine Methodist Church.
