Mary E. Petrie, 87, of Adams, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 28, in the emergency room at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, surrounded by her family. A funeral mass will be said 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at Saint Cecilia's Church, Adams, with Father Martin Cline officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Cecilias Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Born Sept. 20, 1928, in Syracuse, the daughter of Melvin and Merle McCracken LaComb, she graduated in 1945 from Adams Center High School. She worked as a supervisor at the former W.S. Rice, Inc., Adams, retiring in 1991, then went to work at Behling’s Spookhill Farms in Adams Center. She married Bernard A. Petrie on Nov. 22, 1945. The marriage ended in divorce. Surviving are two daughters, Bonny (William) Keller, Watertown, and Tammy (Daniel) Davis, Woodville; four grandchildren, Kristal (Matthew) Edmonds, Alyssa (Gregory) Gibbs, William R. Keller, Dannie Jo Davis; two great-grandchildren, Addison M. Gibbs, Landon G. Gibbs; a daughter in law, Cheryl M. Petrie; two brothers, Robert J. LaComb, Adams, and William D. LaComb, Henderson, NV; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, a son, Bernard A. Jr., and a brother, Bernard (Jim) LaComb. Mary was a Communicant and Eucharistic Minister at Saint Cecilia’s Church, Adams, a member of the Ladies Group and former member of the church’s Parish Council.
