Obituary of Randy Nichols, Sr.

Randy Nichols Sr, 60, of Adams, died August 19, 2016 at Hospice of Jefferson County, Watertown. Calling hours are 4:00-7:00 pm Sunday at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Memorial service will be 5:30 pm Wednesday at Faith Fellowship Church, Watertown, with Rev. Mike Bartholomew officiating. Born January 21, 1956 in Carthage, son of Steven and MaryJane (Britton) Nichols. He attended South Jefferson Central School. Later in his life he attended Jefferson Community College and Utica College. He married Cindy Brown on October 20, 1973. Following their marriage the couple lived in Adams, then Florida and Texas before returning to Adams where they lived the rest of their married life. Randy was self employed working in home construction. He was diagnosed with ALS in 2013 and retired due to his disability. He battled this disease with great Faith in God,  courage and strength.  He is survived by his wife Cindy, a son Randy II, Adams; a daughter Sherry Landry, Mannsville; three grandchildren Caleb, Brooke and Addisen; his parents Steven and MaryJane Nichols, Adams; mother in law Doris Brown, Adams; four brothers, Stevie (finance Monica Rist), Bobby (Tracy), David (Liz) and Mark (Kellie), all of Adams; sister in law, Shelley Card, Adams; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a granddaughter Chelsea, father in law Harold Brown and a sister in law Sherry Nichols. For many years Randy played in the Men’s Golf League at the Adams Golf Club as well as belonging to the South Jefferson Pool League. He was a member of Faith Fellowship Church in Watertown. He enjoyed hunting and nature, loved spending time at his camp, his dogs, and especially treasured being with his grandchildren. He was a friend to all and loved to talk to everyone.
